Programme 2: GCSE to A Level Maths Ready Programme ONLINE VIA ZOOM
For students who have finished GCSE and are starting A Level Maths in September.
A focused summer bridge programme for students starting A Level Maths who want to feel prepared for the jump.
The jump from GCSE to A Level Maths can feel huge! I can help you reinforce the key skills that you will need at Key Stage 5 whilst also giving you are sneak peek at what is coming up! I certainly do not intend to cover the full course in these sessions, but you will feel confident and prepared for the year ahead.
I have over 20 years’ experience of teaching A level Maths and Further Maths, I know the common misconceptions and problems that students find at Key Stage 5. Let me help you get a flying start!!!
Who it is for
Students who:
- are starting A Level Maths in September
- want to feel prepared before term starts
- are aiming for strong grades
- enjoyed GCSE maths but want to get a head start
- feel nervous about the jump
6-session online or in person (depending on location mileage will be charged at 45p per mile) programme at times that is convenient to you! These sessions are available during the last three weeks of the summer holidays (Saturday 8th to Sunday 30th August)
Each session:Â 75 minutes divided into 60 minutes covering the content, the final 15 minutes will be looking ahead at how these skills will be developed at A Level

Session plan
Session 1: Algebra Foundations for A Level
Rearranging, expanding, factorising, simplifying expressions.
Session 2: Indices, Surds and Exact Form
Essential skills students need to be fluent with early on.
Session 3: Quadratics and Graphs
Factorising, solving, completing the square, sketching and interpreting.
Session 4: Coordinate Geometry and Functions
Straight lines, gradients, intersections, notation and transformations.
Session 5: Trigonometry and Problem Solving
Key GCSE trig knowledge, exact values, identities and applying methods.
Session 6: Applied Maths
The key skills that you will need for studying the Mechanics and Statistics sections of the course.
